Instructions for use:

The steering gear is a power-consuming device and consumes a lot of power, so the current of the power supply needs to be sufficient. If the power indicator light flashes, the servo rotation is out of control or the error is obvious, it means that the power supply is insufficient and the power supply needs to be replaced.

1. About wiring

VCC and GND are connected to the power supply, and the servo is inserted into the 2X3P pin header, where VCC is the positive pole, GND is the negative pole, and S is the signal terminal.

2. Manual mode

Select the manual mode through the onboard button, at this time the manual light is on, and the neutral light is off.

The manual mode includes knob control and serial port control. The default is knob control. The system will automatically switch between the two control modes, that is, when the potentiometer is detected to be rotated, select the knob control, and select the serial port control when the serial port receives a valid control command.

2.1 Knob control:

Directly turn the potentiometer to control the steering gear to rotate within the range of 0-180°

2.2 Serial port control:

The on-board MCU can receive and parse the servo position command (baud rate 9600, compatible with 3.3V/5V level) sent from the host computer, external MCU and other equipment, so as to control 2 servos respectively, among which the servo position command format For: #<ch>P<time>!, their meanings are as follows:

a, # is the starting symbol, which is indispensable;

b, <ch> indicates which steering gear is being controlled, there are 2 steering gears in total (range: 00-01 corresponds to steering gear M0 and M1 respectively);

c, P are fixed symbols in the instruction format and are indispensable;

d, <time> indicates the width of the PWM signal (range: 0500・2500 minutes. Corresponding to 0-180°);

*! is the end symbol of the instruction, indicating the end of an instruction, which is indispensable.

For example: send #00P1500! to make the servo M0 rotate to the 90° position

Send #01P1000! to turn servo M1 to 45°

Take connecting the host computer LCSC as an example, first prepare a USB-to-TTL serial port module (such as CH340, FT232, etc.), the TX, RX and GND of the serial port module are respectively connected to the RX, GND of the control board

TX, GND, select the correct port number, after the connection is successful, drag the progress bar No. 0 and No. 1 to control the M0 and M1 servos respectively, as shown below:

Use the onboard button to select the return mode. At this time, the manual light is off, the neutral light is on, and the servos M0 and M1 will return to the neutral position at the same time.

Because the steering gear is a relatively power-consuming device (such as the MG995/MG996 steering gear), the power supply current for the steering gear must be sufficient. If the abnormal phenomenon is obviously too large, it means that the power supply current is not enough and the power supply needs to be replaced.
